Toronto Blue jays are a professional MLB team based in Toronto, Ontario. The team came into existence in the year 1976 but it began to play in the next session in the year 1977, in which the Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox at the Exhibition stadium with a record of 9-5. In the first season the team only won 55 games where as they recorded 107 losses. In the next session in 1978 the team registered only 10 wining record. SS Alfredo Griffin took home a share of the Rookie of the Year award in the year 1979. New manager Bobby Mattick joined the team, in 1980 session when they recorded 67-95 score. Jays in 1983 season recorded its first winning season as they achieved 4 th place with a record of 89-73, finishing only 9 games out of first. The next season is a marvelous one as the team recorded same score. The Blue jays won their first division title with a score of 99-62 in 1985 season. Jimmy Key and Dave Stieb contributed 14 wins each, as reliever Dennis Lamp compiled an impressive 11-0 record. Barfield topped the AL with 40 home runs in 1986.
Bell was named AL most valuable player (MVP) in 1987 after driving in an AL-best 134 runs, and Key posted the American League's lowest ERA at 2.76, while relief pitcher Tom Henke led the league with 34 saves. The Blue Jays finished with a 96-66 record, second best in the major leagues, but to no avail. George Bell was named MVP of the American League. In 1989, that saw the opening of the Jays' new retractable-roofed home, Sky Dome, also marked the start of an extremely successful five-year period for Toronto. Three consecutive division titles followed from 1991 through 1993, and two World Series championships, in 1992 and 1993. In the season of 1993 the team lost many key players from the Championship team, David Cone and Jimmy Key, closer Tom Henke, DH Dave Winfield, and SS Manuel Lee left the team. David Cone was reacquired by the team in the year 1995. 1996 was a mediocre year for the Blue Jays, highlighted by Pat Hentgen's Cy Young Award (20-10. 3.22 ERA).
Roger Clemens landed the Jays with their 2nd straight Cy Young Winner in the 1997 season. The Jays captivated there first winning season in 5 years and after an 11-game winning streak came within 3 games of the wildcard before bowing out with a record of 88-74 record. Rogers Clemens won another CY Young Award. The Blue Jays started the 2002 season with slow progress in performance as Buck Martinez did not remain with the team. They recorded the season, with a 20-33 record. In 2003 season the team recorded a wonderful score as they won 21 of 29 games in May, soon the team recovered there loss as in September made a score of 22-7 and claimed the CY Young award , they ended the season in 3rd place with a solid record of 86-76. On October 2, 2004, the Toronto Blue Jays announced the dismissals of pitching Coach Gil Patterson and first-base coach Joe Breeden, effective at the end of the season. One day later, the Blue Jays finished the 2004 campaign with a 3-2 loss against the New York Yankees.
