The Milwaukee Brewers are a professional team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The franchise began its existence in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots, created as part of that year's MLB expansion along with Kansas City, Montréal, and San Diego. The team was renamed as Brewers in to honor Milwaukee 's beer-brewing traditions. The club became the Brewers originated as the Seattle Pilots, a team that joined the AL in 1969. In 1970 the Brewers finished in 4th place in the AL West with a 65-97 record. The Brewers franchise reached its summit in the early 1980s, in 1981 the team won the second half of the season and played the New York Yankees in a playoffs mini-series that they lost ultimately. Milwaukee made its first trip to the World Series in 1982, but lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers in 1983 season with an 87-75 record made in to 5th Place in a tough Eastern Division. Following their two playoff years, the club quickly retreated to the bottom of the standings, they could never end their seasons higher than fifth (out of seven) in their division from 1983 to 1986. The Brew Crew ended the 1987 season in 3rd Place with 91 wins, which was 6 more than AL West Champion Minnesota Twins who surprised the world by captivating the World Series. The season of 1988 proved to be a strong season as they go just 2 games short with a solid record of 87-75.
Following this year, the team slipped, posting mediocre records from 1989 through 1991, resulting adversely for manager Tom Trebelhorn who had to leave the team. The team achieved second in 1992 as they scored 93 runs to win the AL rookie of the year award. The Brewers were seen struggling to achieve remarkable records in the mid 1990s. The team was reorganized in the year 1994 as they captivated last place with a score of 53-62. The team was transferred from the American League to the National League in 1998 during baseball's expansion and realignment. The unprecedented switch was made to accommodate the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, a new expansion franchise in the AL East Division. As a part of the realignment, the Detroit Tigers replaced Milwaukee in the AL Central, earlier the tigers were a member of American League's East division. Their new home, Miller Park was inaugurated in 2001. The Brewers were energized and excited at the opening of their new home but due to injuries they ended their season in 4 th place with a record of 68-94.
Manager Davey Lopes was fired in 2002 as the Brewers get off to a terrible 3-12 start. They continued their struggle to achieve glory but they ended the season with franchise's worst 56-106 score. The next season was a similar kind of results the Brewers could not achieve their lost glory but with the coming new manager Ned Yost they rose slightly as this time they made a score of 9-18 in April 2003. The Brewers gave a brilliant start to the season 2004 as Richie Sexson was traded, in the first half the team achieved the score of 45-41 at the All-Star Break. The second Half of the season was an awful one as they sank down to last place for the third straight year as they ended the season with a record of 67-94.
