The Rams have made a lot of improvements and have hit some new highs but are still chasing that one elusive road win this season.
Rookie QB Sam Bradford has matured faster than most expected and despite having any real standout talent at wide receiver, has found a way to throw nearly 1,600 yards and 11 TDs.
RB Steven Jackson takes some of the pressure off Bradford and despite his running prowess has contribute with 17 receptions for nearly 175 receiving yards
Defensively, the Rams have excelled at the pass rush, generating a decent amount of sacks thus far this year, and will attempt to frustrate the inexperienced Troy Smith to try and gain an edge.
Smith will most likely be on the run for much of the game so we could expect to see a healthy dose of tailback Frank Gore, and quick swing passes to tight end Vernon Davis.
Defensively the Niners’ have done well up front, ranking 10th in opposing rushing yards, but have fallen victim to proficient passing schemes. This could be a problem if Bradford decides to hook up with the likes of Danny Amendola and Danny Fells.
With two of the best running backs in the game squaring off, two relatively inexperienced quarterbacks, and two capable defenses, this has all the makings of a low scoring game that will be won in the trenches and on the ground.
The odds makers have the 49ers as a -6 point favorite with an over/under of 38.5.
