Denver Broncos 2010 Odds, Preview, and Predictions

Denver Broncos Current odds to win: Division: 5-1 Conference: 25-1 Super Bowl: 50-1

Denver was second in the AFC West last year with an 8-8 record. They were 4-4 at home and 4-4 on the road. They went 3-3 in the division and 6-6 in the conference. They failed to qualify for the postseason.

Denver Broncos Outlook for 2010

Denver was the tale of two teams last season as they raced out to a 6-0 start and then crashed and burned down the stretch to finish 8-8. While unbridled enthusiasm and luck carried them to their fast start, a glaring lack of overall talent is what led to their down fall. First year head coach Josh McDaniels was able to handle all of last year’s off field distractions and had his team ready to play to start the year, but as the season wore on it became apparent they were not nearly as good as first billed.

This season the expectations will once again be high as they try and recreate the success from early last year. Kyle Orton will once again be the Bronco’s starting quarterback, but the addition of first round pick Tim Tebow could provide an interesting twist as his comfort level in this offense grows. All Pro WR Brandon Marshall is gone, but they are hoping that their other first round pick; WR Demaryius Thomas can step in right away to fill the void.

Defensively, the Broncos believe the proper talent is in place and that another year under defensive coordinator Don Martindale’s new system will pay even greater dividends in 2010. Denver finished last season ranked seventh overall in yards allowed but 26th against the run. They signed free agents DT Jamal Williams and DE Jarvis Green and recently resigned OLB Elvis Dumervil in an effort to address this issue.

It is hard to really know what to expect from this team after their Jekyll and Hyde performance in 2009 but they should remain in the playoff hunt until they end, but once again fall just short of making them.

2010 Denver Broncos Prediction: 9-7, 2nd place in the AFC West.
