AFC East 2011 Preview

2011 AFC East Season Preview, Predictions Picks & Odds

Welcome to the best and most complete 2011 AFC East Season Preview available online. The teams making up the 2011 AFC East are the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills. In 2010 the Buffalo Bills finished at the bottom of AFC East with a 4-12 record, failing to outscore opponents credited to their god-awful run defense. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins were destined to end the season like they did (7-9) having not built a strong offensive core through the year.

But the story of the AFC East last year, and probably this season, was the battle between the New England Patriots (14-2) and the New York Jets (11-5).

The Pats were only beat in 2010 by the Browns (yep!) and the Jets, including their disappointing loss in their first playoff game the same team.

So now that you’re up to speed, lets take a look at these four teams going into 2011 and if it’ll be any different this time around.

Now that the 2011-2011 season is approaching, here are our season AFC East team previews & predictions from the top NFL handicappers.

2011 Buffalo Bills Preview

The Bills head into the new season looking just like the Bills of 2010, the only difference is the subtraction of defensive standout Paul Posluszny. The team is putting down all their marbles on the back of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. There is strong doubt that Fitzpatrick, a Harvard grad, has what it takes to lead an NFL team, and whether or not the team has put enough pieces around him to give him the chance.

2011 Miami Dolphins Preview

The Dolphins have been on the cusp of getting over their recent woes, but have failed to improve upon their weakest positions (i.e. quarterback). With Chad Henne at the helm it is hard to pick this team to surprise people. There have been rumors of Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton taking his talents to south beach, but those have died down dramatically and the Broncos seem intent on keeping him. Sounds like bad news for the Fins.

2011 New England Patriots AFC East Preview

Leave it to Bill Belicheck to shine in the most crowded day in the history of football. Yes, the Patriots stole the show on the day the lock out was lifted when they traded for Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynsworth. These two acquisitions fill two glaring holes in the team’s roster. The rich get richer, and the Patriots are the new favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.

2011 New York Jets AFC East Preview

The Jets may not be getting all the hype this year like they have in recent years, but they should still be considered a threat to every team in the league. New York retained their most important players this offseason, and I think in time, them missing out on Nnamdi Asomugha will turn out to be a positive. Mark Sanchez will obviously be one year older and can be expected to be 10 times better than he was last year, which is intimidating, considering he led his team to the last two AFC Championship games.
