Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Old Dominion Monarchs Preview & Prediction
The question with Notre Dame is which team are you getting? Early on the defense was a question, and then late season things seemed to click. Jackson is not a go to scorer, but provides leadership. Harangody is a scorer, but an injury limits his use. Abromaitis provided some needed insurance when he went down. To win they need to rotate and create matchups to score. If the defense falters it’s over.
ODU plays aggressively using its size and don’t make mistakes. Their talent is in the defense. The offense is fluky with the three point shot, but if they get hot it will be a tough game. Overall satisfactory in rebounding, and weak from the line, they need to stay in the game defensively and land a few bombs to win it. James is a scorer who needs to be the man inside and hope Bazemore has his outside shot. If they stay out of foul trouble it will be a bonus.
The odds makers have the Irish as -2-point favorites.
I have to agree with the odds gods. After losing to WVU by two in the Big East Tournament semi’s, I expect the Irish to rebound into the sweet sixteen with a four point win here.
