Ben went 2-2 on Monday, including a *10* winner on the Knicks. His *10 on the Wizards was a tough loss. Washington, laying -4, was up double-digits much of the way but ended up winning by only three, in OT.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators
Total
5½ un-130
  at  SIA
Lost
$130.0
Reason: I'm playing on Vancouver and Nashville to finish UNDER the total. These teams have faced each other twice this season. Both meetings had O/U lines of five. Each finished above the total. Both those meetings were at Vancouver though. They also both came much earlier in the season, back on 10/20 and 12/1. Tonight's game is at Nashville instead of Vancouver. That's significant as the Canucks' last visit here produced only three goals, a 2-1 Vancouver win on 5/9/2011. Going back further finds that four of the Canucks' last five visits here have produced five or fewer combined goals. Those five games had scores of 2-1, 4-2, 3-2, 3-1 and 3-1. That's an average of only 4.4 combined goals. As noted, tonight's O/U line is 5.5 instead of five. This is significant, of course. The Canucks have seen three of their last four games finish with exactly five goals. The Predators have seen four of their last five finish with five goals or less, two of them finishing with exactly five. For the season, the Preds have seen the UNDER go 7-3 when playing a home game with an O/U line of 5.5. Having not played since Saturday, note that they've also seen the UNDER go 8-3-2 when playing with two day's rest in between games, 11 of those 13 games producing five or fewer goals. I expect this one to do the same. *10

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat
Total
196½ ov-104
  at  5DIMES
Won
$100
Reason: I'm playing on Miami and Cleveland to finish OVER the total. While the Heat should win this game, naturally, they're very heavy favorites. They check in laying double-digits. I believe the total is providing better value. The Heat can flat out score. At 103.2 points per game, they rank #1 in the Eastern Conference and #2 behind Denver in the entire league. (Note that Miami scores 104.5 at home, which is more than the Nuggets score when playing at Denver.) The Heat have scored at least 95 points in seven straight games. The last time that they failed to do so was when they scored "only" 92 against these same Cavs. At the time, the Heat were off a loss in which they had only scored points and were in a stretch where they dropped four of seven. They were more focused on just getting the win, rather than running up the score. However, the Heat are now 7-1 their last eight games, dating back to the Cleveland win. That means they're feeling a lot better about themselves and are surely confident that they can easily beat the Cavs. I expect that type of confidence to translate to an aggressive offensive performance, as Lebron looks to go off against his former team. Note that the OVER is a profitable 11-3 the past 14 times that the Heat were favored at home by greater than a dozen points. The Cavs are also starting to score points. They've scored at least 90 points in three straight games. That may not sound like much. However, its pretty good when considering that all three of those teams (Boston, Orlando, Dallas) rank in the top eight in the league, in terms of points allowed. The OVER is now 8-4 the Cavs' last 12 games. It should also be noted that the Cavs haven't played since Saturday and that the OVER is 3-1 when they've played with two day's rest in between games. While this season's earlier meeting did finish below the number, both meetings here last season finished above the total last year, averaging greater than 200 points. They had an average score of 109-92.5, the Heat winning both. The OVER is now 6-2 the last eight times that the Heat were a host in this series. With Lebron and co. again hitting triple-digits and the Cavs chipping in enough to do the rest, I expect another relatively high-scoring affair. *10

NY Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers
-164
  at  5DIMES
Lost
$164.0
Reason: I'm playing on PHILADELPHIA. The Flyers are fairly heavily favored here. However, given their dominance of the Islanders here, I feel that the price could easily be higher. In fact, the price usually IS higher when the Flyers host the Isles. The Flyers were laying -205 when they hosted the Isles a few weeks ago. Prior to that, they were laying -300 in the previous home meeting in this series. Before that, they were laying -260. So, tonight's price could indeed be higher. The Isles actually beat the Flyers in the game here last month. However, even including that result, the Flyers are still a commanding 26-3 the last 29 in the series, 13-1 the last 14 meetings here at Philadelphia. Off two straight losses, the Flyers figure to be highly motivated here. As center Max Talbot noted: "We need to get back on the horse. You look at the standings and it's really tight, so you can't allow yourself to just look back and think about it for too long." Philadelphia coach Peter Laviolette echoed Talbot's statement: "We have to be better with the attention to detail ... I think we're all accountable. It's my responsibility to make sure we're better defensively from a team point of view right down to our goaltender. It's not good enough ..." While I won't count on it, note that the Flyers could potentially get Daniel Briere back here. It should also be noted that the Isles will be without defenseman Travis Hamonic, who got hurt Saturday. (He'd played 113 straight games for them.) The Isles lost 4-3 vs. Buffalo last time out. The Flyers fell by a score of 5-2 vs. the Devils. The Isles are only 5-13 (-7.1) after allowing four or more goals in their previous game though. Meanwhile, the Flyers are 11-6 (+2.2) after allowing four or more. I expect them to improve on those stats this evening. *7

Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks
-7-110
  at  SIA
Lost
$110.0
Reason: I'm playing on MILWAUKEE. Scheduling should always be considered. In this year's abbreviated NBA season, its arguably more important than ever. In tonight's case, the Bucks should have a significant scheduling advantage. The Bucks have had the past two day's off. That's a fairly rare luxury in the NBA these days. The last time that they played with two day's off, they went into New York and destroyed the Knicks. Listed as +4.5 underdogs, they won that one by a score of 100-86. Unlike their hosts, the Suns were involved in a game last night. They're not a young team either. Nash, playing on his 38th birthday and with a banged-up shoulder, saw more than 30 minutes. Likewise for Hill and Gortat, who played 30 and 35. Frye and Dudley both played 28 minutes. Note that the Suns are just 19-23 ATS the last couple of seasons, when playing the second of back to back games. The last time that they played a road game, after having played the previous night, they lost outright at Toronto. Note that this is also much worse than a typical back to back spot. That's because the Suns will also be playing their fourth game in the past five nights. Its only the seventh day of February and the Suns will already be playing in their fifth different city this month. The Blucks were blown out last time out. That was against Chicago though and the were playing the second of back to back games. As noted, they're now well-rested. They've only played one road game this month and that was at Detroit. Even with the loss to the Bulls, the Bucks are still a solid 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS at home. That's much better than the Suns' 5-8 SU and 6-7 ATS mark on the road. That's no surprise though. The Bucks are now 59-36 at home the past couple of seasons while the Suns are only 48-55 on the road. The Bucks, who are playing with revenge from an earlier loss at Phoenix, are an impressive 27-18-1 ATS the past 2+ seasons, when off a double-digit loss. With the schedule in their favor, I expect them to improve on those stats in convincing fashion tonight. *10

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors
Golden State Warriors
+2½-103
  at  5DIMES
Lost
$103.0
Reason: I'm playing on GOLDEN STATE. Scheduling should always be considered. In this year's abbreviated NBA season, its arguably more important than ever. In tonight's case, the Warriors should have a significant scheduling advantage. The Warriors have had the past two day's off. That's a fairly rare luxury these days. Its also a situation which they've gone a profitable 16-10 ATS in, the past 2+ seasons. The Warriors have played with two or more day's rest three times so far in 2012. They beat Miami outright. They also beat Sacramento. The third game resulted in a 1-point loss vs. Memphis. In other words, they've been extremely competitive when their players have had fresh legs. Unlike their hosts, the Thunder were involved in a game last night. They're still a young team, so many might not worry too much about the back-to-back situation. However, this season has already been grueling for all teams, young and old. Also, this isn't just a "normal" back-to-back spot. That's because last night's game was an all out war at Portland, one of the toughest venues in the league. Playing with revenge from an earlier loss, the Thunder left it all out on the floor and ended up beating the Blazers in OT. It was an emotional (and controversial) win and figures to have been exhausting. Durant played 45 minutes. Westbrook and Harden played 41 and 42, respectively. Meanwhile, Perkins and Ibaka chipped in 36 and 38 minutes. That's A LOT of time for the starters to have been on the floor. As if last night's heavy minutes weren't bad enough, the Thunder will now also be playing their fourth game in the past five days. Its only the seventh day of February and the Thunder will already be playing in their fifth different city this month. Meanwhile, the Warriors will be playing just their third game of February and all three of them have been here in California. In fact, they haven't left the state of California since a 1/18 game at New Jersey. The Warriors have long been better here and they've been particularly tough at home recently. They've won two home games in a row and three of their last four here. The lone loss came against these same Thunder, which puts them in the "revenge" role here. The Thunder are indeed a good team. However, the Warriors have shown that they can beat good teams. They hammered a solid Utah team 119-101 last game here. Home wins against Portland and Miami were even more impressive. They beat the Thunder here last February and I look for them to score the upset tonight. *10

Ben Burns burst onto the sports betting scene in the 1990s, first making his selections available to the public in 1998. Now entering his tenth year, Ben has become one of the most successful and well-respected handicappers on the entire Internet. From 1998 to 2006, Ben had his selections documented by the Big Guy Sports Monitor. During that time, he accumulated numerous seasonal titles in all the major sports. In fact, competing against a field of 150, Ben's NFL selections still rank as #1 of all-time there. With such a commanding lead over the field, it is highly unlikely that his all-time NFL record there will ever be matched. Like all handicappers, Ben goes through both hot and cold streaks. However, whether winning or losing, he always "tells it like it is." Perhaps more importantly, as his many fans are quick to point out, Ben's winning weeks tend to greatly outnumber his losing ones. Note that Ben followed up an extremely strong 2006 with an even better campaign in 2007! Ben is known as a "Totals Expert" and his over/under plays are highly sought after in all sports. In addition to his "total" success, Ben's "sides" are also known for their sizzling hot streaks. While he advocates playing all his selections equally, Ben's knack for nailing his "Big" plays is truly remarkable. Ben capped off a highly successful college football season by winning his Bowl Game of the Year, a 41-10 wire-to-wire destruction on Georgia over Hawaii. Ben's NFL playoffs didn't go as well though and he lost his first ever Super Bowl selection, when the Patriots were upset by the Giants. Despite that rare setback, Ben's Super Bowl record remains at 10-1 for his career. Additionally, his NFL playoff picks remain a powerful 47-22 (68%) ATS the past six years. Ben isn't just a football expert though, as his hockey, baseball AND basketball picks are also highly respected. Ben logs extremely long hours. His hard work clearly shows itself in his high quality writeups and extraordinary long-term records. If you're looking for an honest, hard-working handicapper with a documented history of success, give Ben Burns a try. We're sure that you'll be impressed!
