NHL Game Preview for Wednesday November 9, 2011: Philadelphia Flyers @ Tampa Bay Lightning

Online Sportsbook Overview

The Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning are right where they should be in their respective divisions. The Flyers is second to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Atlantic Division, and the Lightning is second to the Washington Capitals in the Southeast Division. Considering the slow starts both the Flyers and Lightning had to the 2011-2012 season, they should both be happy to be where they are. But the Flyers have larger aspirations than second place in the Atlantic Division.Philadelphiawent out and got goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov and took a chance on veteran Jaromir Jagr to make a run at a Stanley Cup this season. The Flyers gave up scoring leaders Jeff Carter and Mike Richards to get the new players, and that may be what causes problems forPhiladelphiain the future.

The Tampa Bay Lightning is essentially the same team that went to the Eastern Conference finals last year. The price per head bookmaking experts are trying to understand how the same roster is supposed to push the Lightning into the Stanley Cup finals this year. But the Lightning won a lot of its games last year based on its consistent approach and steady goaltending. The same team is in place from last year and the pay per head management inTampaBay really believes that this roster can win a championship for the Lightning.

NFL Week 9 Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints (-9)

Game Overview

As the Breeder’s Cup betting comes to a close,TampaBay head coach Raheem Morris can feel the pressure in the NFC South. Morris and his Buccaneers were expected to be one of the up and coming teams in the NFC, but the Bucs cannot seem to win big games when it needs to. At 4-3,TampaBay is tied for second in the NFC South with the Atlanta Falcons. But the Falcons have shown that it can overcome some of the earlier struggles that caused the team to start the season in the NFC South basement. The Bucs have been teetering on the brink of falling into a bad season. The loss inLondon,England to the Chicago Bears exploited the Buccaneers’ inability to stop the run. That is something the Saints look to rectify.

The price per head bookmaking experts do not usually list anger as a good reason to bet on a football team. But after the New Orleans Saints gave the St. Louis Rams its first win of the season in week eight, it is safe to say that the Saints are very angry. It was theNew Orleans defense giving up huge gains on the ground to Rams’ running back Steven Jackson and Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees throwing two key interceptions that lost the game for the Saints. The rest of the offensive and defensive units did not help the situation either. But the Saints are a veteran team that can learn from previous mistakes, and there were a lot of mistakes to learn from in week eight.

NCAA Football Week 9 Preview: Stanford Cardinals (-7 ½) @ USC Trojans

College Football Betting Overview

There is always something interesting about two California-based schools meeting up in a critical BCS contest late in the season. Sixth ranked Stanford travels south to play the unranked USC Trojans in what has become a very interesting game to watch. USC is ranked 20th on the AP Top 25 poll, but the Trojans do not appear anywhere on the BCS listing. When it comes down to positioning in bowl games, it is usually the BCS rankings that count. This Pac-12 battle is between two teams that only have one loss between them. The 6-1 Trojans blew their chance at a high ranking when it lost toArizonaState. But that does not mean that the Trojans cannot put it together and win this game.

The cost per head fans in Stanford are starting to believe that they are watching the beginning of a legend with quarterback Andrew Luck. The undefeated Cardinals were expected to compete this year, but a top-10 ranking seemed unlikely. Luck and his team have shown incredible resiliency. The fact that the closest score the Cardinals have seen this season was a 37-10 win overArizona means that Stanford truly knows how to win. There is a reason why Stanford has earned a number six ranking, and one of those reasons is that the Cardinals never underestimate its opponent.

MLB World Series Preview – Game 3: St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers

Online Sportsbook Overview

This is already shaping up to be a very entertaining World Series.St. Louismanager Tony LaRussa was in great form in game one as he went through six pitchers to take the win. LaRussa was so spot-on with his managing that his five relief pitchers only gave up a combined one hit in a little more than two innings pitched. LaRussa’s use of pinch hitters and moving his defense around was also a sign that the veteran manager has his head in the game. LaRussa knew when starter Chris Carpenter had enough and knew how to make sure that his team came out of game one with the win.

Texasmanager Ron Washington did an excellent job on the other side of the field as well. Once Washingtonpulled starter C.J. Wilson in the sixth inning after Wilsonhad given up the lead, the Rangers gave up only two hits and no runs the rest of the game. Washingtonput his cost per head players in a position to win the game, but the offense could not come through for the Rangers.Washington made moves and changed up hitters, but he could not get his team to produce the two runs it needed to win.

Can The Texas Rangers Win Their First World Series Title Ever?

For the second consecutive season, the MLB juggernaut Texas Rangers are in the World Series. This year, the Rangers are led by a potent offense and stifling pitching core that all appear ready to win a title. If you recall, last season, it appeared as though the Rangers were just happy to be in the price per head World Series, and being a runner up was no big deal. With a title in mind, today we wonder if the Rangers can stop the red hot St. Louis Cardinals.

Entering Wednesday’s matchup in St. Louis, the Texas Rangers find themselves as a – 160 favorite over the feel good story of the MLB St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are being praised by everyone and their bookie software agents, because their veteran lineup was able to climb into the playoffs after losing staff ace Adam Wainwright for the year and being down 10.5 games at the end of August. However, in our books, the Texas Rangers and their ability to come back and play in a second World Series, is just as NFL pick admirable if not more so then St. Louis.

MLB Playoff Preview – ALCS Game 4: Texas Rangers @ Detroit Tigers

Sports Betting Online Overview

The ALCS is quickly becoming a one-sided series as the Texas Rangers have completely dominated the Detroit Tigers from the very first game.Detroitace Justin Verlander was the victim of another rain delay in a game one, just as he was inDetroit’s ALDS series against the New York Yankees, and lost that game 3-2. In game two, the Tigers could only watch as Nelson Cruz hit the first walk-off grand slam in playoff history to beat the Tigers 7-3. Things have just not gone the Tigers’ way this series, andDetroithopes that a shift back to its home stadium for three games will change the Tigers’ fortunes.Detroit’s starting rotation has played well in this series, but the bullpen and offense need to step up ifDetroitis going to come back in this series.

The Texas Rangers knew that it would need offense to win this series over Detroit. But the price per head bookmaking experts never expected theTexas bullpen to play as well as it has played in the ALCS. The starting pitching forTexas has handed two leads to the bullpen, and the bullpen has been able to hold on to those leads and win the games. It is how a good pitching staff is supposed to work, and the Rangers were not expected to be this good on the mound in the playoffs without a Cliff Lee-type postseason pitcher. After a blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the first game of its ALDS series, the Rangers’ staff has calmed down and been lights out forTexas. As theTexas offense picks up, the Rangers become a very dangerous team.

MLB Divisional Playoff Preview – Game One: Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees

Online Sportsbook Overview

September 2011 has been a very good month for baseball. The two wild card races came down to the last inning of the last game of the season for all four teams involved. The Tampa Bay Rays scored seven runs in the ninth inning of their game against the New York Yankees and then won the game with a Evan Longoria walk-off homer to make the playoffs. The St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Houston Astros 8-0 and then waited for the Atlanta Braves to lose to the Phillies soSt. Louiscould clinch the NL wild card. It was one of the most exciting nights in baseball history. For an encore, theALdivisional playoffs present a match-up of two Cy Young candidates at the height of their games.

The price per head baseball fans inNew York will be treated to an opening playoff game that featuresDetroit’s Justin Verlander andNew York’s C.C. Sabathia. Both of these pitchers are the aces of their staffs, and both are Cy Young candidates this season. The Tigers come into this game with a hot offense that has been able to produce runs at will this season. The Yankees are hitting on all cylinders even without full participation from a still-injured Alex Rodriguez. The Tigers may not match up very well against the Yankees for the entire series, but this opening game could be one of the best in this year’s playoffs.

MLB Game Preview for Wednesday September 28, 2011: Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

Online Sports Betting Overview

After a season that has contained some of the highest ups and lowest downs in Boston Red Sox history, it all comes down to the last two games of the season. At one point not too long ago, the Boston Red Sox held a one and a half game lead in the AL East pennant race and then a nine game lead in theALwild card race. The Red Sox lost the AL East pennant weeks ago, and now stand tied with the Tampa Bay Rays for theALwild card spot. The Red Sox have had one of the most successful summers in team history, but it is sandwiched in between the worst April inBostonhistory and what is turning into the worst September in team history. The Red Sox are 2-8 in the last 10 games and now in very real danger of missing out on the playoffs. It is not what Red Sox Nation expected when the season started to finally pick up in June.

The Baltimore Orioles have absolutely nothing to lose in these last two games. It also has nothing to gain. The Orioles were a factor in MLB betting earlier in the season, but by the time the All-Star break rolled around the Orioles were headed for the AL East basement again. Now the Orioles get the chance to knock the Red Sox out of the playoffs in the last series of the season. If Baltimore can sweep the Red Sox in a series for the second time this September, and the Rays win one more game over the Yankees, then Boston gets to go home for some striped bass fishing while the MLB playoffs are going on. It would be a positive way for the Orioles to end the season and build on next year.

MLB Game Preview for Friday September 23, 2011: San Francisco Giants @ Arizona Diamondbacks

Betting Overview

Just when the San Francisco Giants looked to be completely out of the NL playoff hunt, it emerges as one of the top contenders for the NL wild card. The Atlanta Braves currently hold the NL wild card spot but have been losing more than winning lately. The Giants are 9-1 in the last 10 games and have climbed to within three and a half games of the NL wild card berth. That puts the Braves squarely in the sights of the Giants and the surging St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are in a better position to win the NL wild card being only one and a half games out, butSan Franciscois still staying alive and this series with the Diamondbacks is the perfect chance to make up ground.

The Arizonamagic number for clinching the NL West over the Giants is two. But the Giants have an extra game in between its series with the Dodgers and this game with the Diamondbacks that could cut the NL West pennant lead to only five games. If Arizonagets swept by the Giants in this upcoming three-game series, then that sets up an interesting finish to the season. The Diamondbacks surprised most MLB baseball betting fans by a post All-Star break surge that put them in control of the NL West. Now the Diamondbacks need just two more wins, or two more Giants losses, to clinch the pennant. But it won’t be easy.
