New England quarterback Tom Brady has passed for 1,874 yards and 14 touchdowns in just five games this season, and is on pace to shatter everyone record for quarterbacks. He will continue his historic campaign this week against the Dallas Cowboys (2-2).

Dallas Cowboys at New England Patriots
Over/Under: 55, -110

The New England Patriots are on fire and winning consistently (so, what’s new?), and they are doing so in a way that no one thought was possible.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

The success of the Patriots this season, and the way the success is coming, has shown how different the league is compared to where it was when quarterback Tom Brady first entered the scene back in 2001. The Patriots are allowing the most passing yards on defense, and are near the bottom in overall defense as well. But they are outscoring every team they play substantially.

This week, the Patriots will play a team that seems to be on its last wheel.

The Dallas Cowboys will head to Foxboro looking like the most unstable team in the league. Quarterback Tony Romo just can’t seem to put together four quarters of solid play, and has given away far too many games for his team to really rally around his as their leader.

One thing that the Cowboys have going their way in this matchup, is they are coming off a bye week and will be well rested and prepared to play one of the hottest teams in the league.

Luckily, too, for the Cowboys, namely Romo, the team will need to run the ball all day, so as to keep Brady and the Patriot offense off the field. Romo should be able to lead his offense to plenty of points, as the Patriots are the worst in the league at defending the pass.

But, America’s team isn’t likely to slow down Brady enough for Romo and the offense to outscore them, unless the offense can keep them on the bench. This is the most important aspect of the game for the Cowboys, and the only way they can win.

The odds makers have the New England Patriots as a -7 point favorite with an over/under of 55.

Matt’s Prediction: Patriots 28, Cowboys 24 – Surprisingly, this has a chance to be one of the best games of the year. Dallas’ defense is good, there is no denying that, and they should be able to hold the Patriots at bay for a little while, but they will need the help of the offense. I just don’t think it will be enough, but I’d still take the Cowboys against the spread.

The Texans are coming off an emotional defeat at the hands of the Oakland Raiders, and now will face their biggest challenge of the year in the Baltimore Ravens. The Texans are no doubt yearning to the play the Colts now, something that would have been unheard of less than a year ago.

Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens
Venue/Stadium: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, Maryland
Time/Date: 4:05 PM ET, Sunday, October 16, 2011 on CBS

NFL Odds From: BetOnline.com
Moneyline: Baltimore Ravens -380, Houston Texans +315
Spread (ATS): Baltimore Ravens -9, +110
Over/Under: 45, -110

The Baltimore Ravens are perhaps the most non-compelling team in the league. They are doing what everyone thought they would be doing at this point: winning. And they are doing it with two of the oldest things in the book: a running game and defense.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

The Ravens, coming off a bye week, will have a chance to improve to 4-1 this Sunday when they host the Houston Texans (3-2), who are coming off a dramatic defeat against the mourning Raiders.

The Ravens are second in rushing yards allowed, with an astonishing 72.5 average per game. It is amazing that they are able to keep up such a high level of play no matter who comes and goes on the squad. And it seems as long as linebacker Ray Lewis is in the middle of the defense, they will be among the best in the league.

The Texans are reeling after their 25-20 defeat last week, a game in which they played without star receiver Andre Johnson, who is likely out for another five weeks.

Houston, after Peyton Manning’s injury, were counting on this year to be the one that they could finally win the AFC South and make the playoffs, in what would be their first postseason appearance in franchise history. Now, with a Tennessee team that is on fire, and loosing their best player, they’re playoff chances are looking grim.

The Ravens, though, have put themselves in a great position moving forward in the season, having already beaten their division rival the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-7. The only question for the Ravens has to be, “Can they sustain their dominant play?” Fortunately for the, they have a team coming off an emotional defeat, and they are coming into the matchup rested and ready.

The odds makers have the Baltimore Ravens as a -9 point favorite with an over/under of 45.

Matt’s Prediction: Ravens 14, Texans 10 – I’d expect this to be a close game, as the Texans, even without Johnson, have enough offensive firepower to put up enough points to keep up with the Ravens, even against the best defense in the league. The Texans aren’t likely to come out on top, but they should be able to cover the spread.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers came into the 2011 season ready to show that they could return to the Super Bowl, and even win it this time around, as they have six times in the past. But after early season struggles, a lot of people started doubting the Steelers’ ability to get it done, but have since begun to silence the chatter.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers
Venue/Stadium: Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Time/Date: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 16, 2011 on CBS

NFL Odds From: BetOnline.com
Moneyline: Pittsburgh Steelers -600, Jacksonville Jaguars +450
Spread (ATS): Pittsburgh Steelers -13 ½, +105
Over/Under: 40 ½, -110

The Pittsburgh Steelers are finally riding high after a rough start to the season, and will now get an off week. Wait, no, their playing the Jacksonville Jaguars … well, close enough.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been awful so far in 2011, but have improved since choosing to ride with rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, wherever he may take them.

Gabbert has thrown for 608 yards and three touchdowns since taking over the offense, and has shown that he has all the potential in the world. The only problem is, that potential isn’t enough for the Jaguars to be any sort of competitive team this year.

Running back Maurice Jones-Drew has run rampant on defense in 2011, rushing for 476 yards and two touchdowns, but hasn’t put out enough to really carry his team to victories. If Jones-Drew can stay healthy in the future though, the team likely has a deadly duo in the making with him and Gabbert.

The Steelers, on the other hand, have all the talent in the world, and finally started living up to it in the past couple of weeks, but now face a bigger problem than a little inconsistency. The injury bug has hit Pittsburgh badly lately, with Rashard Mendenhall, the team’s most dependable running back, and James Harrison, the defenses silent leader, both missing last week.

Mendenhall is expecting to play in this game, but how dominant his role will be in the offense has yet to be seen. And with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing the ball a lot more than previous years, Mendenhall’s impact on offense is likely to be minimal.

Despite this, the Steelers’ offense still is likely to blow right past the ailing Jaguar defense.

The odds makers have the Pittsburgh Steelers as a -13.5 point favorite with an over/under of 40.5.

Matt’s Prediction: Steelers 21, Jaguars 10 – It is just a bad matchup for the Jaguars. The Steelers are 13-point favorites, and rightly so. The Steelers are just far and away the better team, and it will show in the final outcome. The Steelers will put up more than enough points needed to win the game, as their defense is likely to embarrass the Jaguar’s rookie quarterback.

The Philadelphia Eagles, or as quarterback Vince Young calls them, the “Dream Team,” are now 1-4, and are on the outside of the divisional race looking in.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

The losses have been dramatic, and not so much so. And now, the Eagles will face the very surprising Washington Redskins in a divisional matchup that could hold huge playoff implications in the long run.

The Redskins have bursted on to the scene in 2011, and don’t look like they are going to slow down anytime soon. Head coach Mike Shanahan is finally showing why the Redskins targeted him in their coaching search.

Everyone questioned Shanahan’s decision to give the reigns of the offense to quarterback Rex Grossman at the start of the season, but Grossman has backed up his coach’s decision with consistent, and at times really good, quarterback play and leadership. Grossman has passed for 989 yards and six touchdowns in the team’s first four game, and doesn’t seem like he is ready to let up any time soon.

The Redskins are coming off of a bye week, and have had to watch the tape for a long time of the two teams’ last meeting, a 59-28 walloping by the Eagles. That is sure to set a fire in the eyes of the Redskins, knowing that they have a good chance to be more prepared, and rested going into the matchup.

The Eagles are doing everything they need to do to win games, like running the ball (they’re ranked first in the league), but can’t seem to hang onto the ball.

Quarterback Michael Vick has to be blamed for the team’s utter lack of competence when it comes to hanging on to the ball. He has fumbled six times, and thrown seven interceptions in 2011. Vick’s true nature has come out, the one that everyone was expecting to show eventually.

The odds makers have the Philadelphia Eagles as a -1 point favorite with an over/under of 47.

Matt’s Prediction: Eagles 21, Redskins 17 – The Redskins have everything going for them in this matchup, like coming off of a bye and being at the high point of their franchise in the last two years, but this Eagles team is bound to put up huge numbers eventually, and I expect this to their time.

This weekend marks the halfway point of the college football season. It seems like only a few articles ago I was making my 2011 predictions.

Three Pac-12 teams are ranked this week in the Associated Press poll — No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 Oregon and No. 18 Arizona State — but the conference will be hard pressed to send a team to the Bowl Championship Series national title game.

Oregon at Stanford on Nov. 12 figured to be the Pac-12 game of the year entering the season and nothing has altered that script.

There are some great games on tap this week, starting with Cal hosting the Trojans on Thursday and wrapping up on Saturday with Oregon and ASU battling it out on ESPN.

Let’s take a look at this week’s matchups. Listed pointspreads are provided by BetOnline.com.

USC at California – 9:00 PM ET on ESPN

Can the Bears overcome their lack of offensive production when they square off with the USC Trojans on Thursday night? Cal has scored an average of 34.6 ppg, but that number is a bit misleading. Take out their 64-12 pummeling of the hapless Presbyterian College Bluestockings and that number falls to 24 ppg. And in their two losses, against Washington (4-1, 2-0) and #9 Oregon (4-1, 2-0), they only put up 19 points per game. Numbers like that are not going to help them against a Trojan offense that’s averaging 28 ppg, without the benefit of outings against the Bluestockings. Meanwhile, the Trojan offense seems to be coming together and putting up more points every week, while the Bears are headed the other direction. When these two teams met up last year, USC worked over the Golden Bears 48-14 without breaking much of sweat. And there’s no reason to think that the same thing won’t happen again this year.

Prediction: USC 40, California 21 – Bet Now

Utah at Pittsburgh – 12:00 PM ET on ESPNU

Pittsburgh and Utah look for a much needed win Saturday at Heinz Field. The Utes have suffered back to back defeats following a 35-14 loss to Arizona State while the Panthers were handled by Rutgers 34-10. Utah’s first season in the PAC 12 hasn’t started off with a bang, but has fizzled. Meanwhile, a week after destroying nationally ranked South Florida, Pittsburgh came out flat against Rutgers with struggles on both sides of the ball. This is a hard one to call. As for Utah, their offense is challenged and the defense has been average. Put the two together, and it’s not a winning combination. Pittsburgh on the other hand, has so much talent, but the numbers on both sides of the ball tells us this team doesn’t stand out. I wouldn’t be in any rush to take either one.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 17, Utah 15 – Bet Now

Colorado @ Washington – 3:30 PM ET

The Washington Huskies have a chance to knock off their second PAC 12 newbie in a row when they face the Colorado Buffaloes at Husky Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Two weeks ago Washington easily handled the Utes, the other new PAC 12 team, 31-14 in Utah. With the win over the Utes, Washington is off to their best start since 2006 and there couldn’t be a better opponent to face at home when you looking for win than the Buffaloes. After a painful 48-7 loss to the Stanford Cardinal, Colorado minted their 20th consecutive road loss, and that’s not their only problem. Injuries have plagued their defense all season and, last week, head coach John Embree suspended four more defensive players for breaking unspecified team rules. There are some bright spots for the Buffs coming into this tilt. Quarterback Tyler Hansen has been on fire. Should the Buffaloes have any shot of winning against the Huskies, they’ll need Hansen to step up. But if Washington plays anything like they did against Utah, this will be all Huskies.

Prediction: Washington 41, Colorado 14 – Bet Now

BYU @ Oregon State – 4:00 PM ET

Oregon State will look to try and build from their win against the Wildcats as they welcome the Cougars of BYU to town in a break from Pac 12 conference play. BYU may be 4-2 this season, but don’t let that make you think that they are any better than the Beavers. They are a couple of calls away from being a one win team just like Oregon State. The Cougars have recently benched Jake Heaps, formerly the number one rated quarterback out of high school, in favor of Riley Nelson. This move gave them their first semi-comfortable win of the season. Could Nelson be the Cougs long term answer here? He did throw two interceptions in the contest, but also racked up three touchdowns through the air, and over 50 yards of offense on the ground. The Beavers defense could have its hands full.

Prediction: BYU 35, Oregon State 21 – Bet Now

#7 Stanford @ Washington State – 7:30 PM ET

Washington State takes on its first ranked opponent of the season on Saturday when they host the #7 Stanford Cardinal. While the Cougars would seem to have little chance against the high flying Cardinal, this may be the best shot they’ve had at knocking off a ranked opponent in a long time. Still, it’s hard to overstate how well Stanford is playing with superstar Andrew Luck under center. While the Cougars may be having their best season in years, Luck and the Cardinal seem to be getting better with every game. So what can Washington State do to contain the Luck juggernaut? Frankly, there isn’t much that can be done. Stanford is heading into Martin Stadium with a 13-game winning streak, the longest current streak going in college football. It’s hard to picture a scenario where the Cardinal lose this one.

Prediction: Stanford 45, Washington State 21 – Bet Now

#18 Arizona State @ #9 Oregon – 10:15 PM ET on ESPN

If the #18 ASU Sun Devils can overcome the #9 Oregon Ducks, they’ve got a pretty good shot at running the PAC-12 for the rest of the season. The Sun Devils have already knocked off two ranked opponents, so there’s no reason to think they can’t do it again, especially this week. That’s because Oregon will likely take the field without the star running back LaMicheal James. Offensively, ASU has had no problem putting up a lot of points on both ranked and unranked opponents this season. Junior quarterback Brock Osweiller is proving to be a strong presence for the Sun Devils both on and off the field. However, one of the biggest problems this season for the Sun Devils has been sloppy play. The Sun Devils have looked pretty good on defense this year and if they knock off the dumb penalties, they could really slow down the vaunted OU offense. For the Ducks, the key to victory is finding someone to fill James very large shoes.

Prediction: Oregon 35, Arizona State 30 – Bet Now

NFL Football Preview | New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

With each team possessing a quarterback on pace to finish the 2011 campaign ahead of Dan Marino’s record for yards in a single season, the New Orleans Saints will have other things in mind when they head to Bank of America Stadium to face the Carolina Panthers.

New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers
Venue/Stadium: Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina
Time/Date: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 9, 2011 on FOX

Moneyline: Saints -290, Panthers +245
Spread (ATS): Saints -7, +105
Over/Under: 51, -110

Rookie quarterback Cam Newton has hit the league by storm, to say the least, but will face his biggest test of the year when he enters his first division game this Sunday against Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the 3-1 New Orleans Saints.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

Newton, along with Brees, is on pace to break Marino’s record, although that is likely to change as the season progresses. But Newton has done things that you must respect, as he has passed for 1,386 yards in just his first four game in the NFL.

Sunday’s matchup will be tough for Newton, though.

New Orleans’ defensive coordinator Gregg Williams loves to bring the heat, especially when facing a young quarterback. Newton hasn’t been able to beat the blitz consistently through his first four games, and the Saints could be the team to knock him back to reality.

Both offenses have put up similar numbers in terms of yards, but New Orleans are doing something that is way more important: scoring. The Saints are averaging 31.8 points, while the Panthers averaging just 22.3. In the same respect, Carolina tend to come up short in crucial third-down situations, converting just 32.7 percent on the season.

The last time these two teams met, the Saints thumped the kitties 34-3, but that was way back in November of 2010, and now Carolina is a completely different team.

Panthers’ receiver Steve Smith seems to be reborn with his new quarterback throwing his way, and he’s already caught 24 balls for 530 yards. Smith has always been the leader of the team, and Carolina and new head coach Ron Rivera needed Smith to come back and bring the intensity that he was known for playing with. Every time Smith makes a play, the whole team seems to feed off of the energy.

The odds makers have the New Orleans Saints as a -7 point favorite with an over/under of 51.

Matt’s Prediction: Saints 28, Panthers 27 – The game will no doubt be close, but it will be a shootout, and the Saints are one of the best at winning high-scoring games. I’d take the Panthers to cover the spread, but don’t expect Cam and the offense to score as many touchdowns as the Saints’ offense.

NFL Football Preview | Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants

The New York Giants are a team on the rise, and Eli Manning has turned his play around dramatically since throwing 25 interceptions in 2010. The Giants will face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, a team that they have ben by a combined score of 85-13 in their last two meetings.

Seattle Seahawks vs New York Giants
Venue/Stadium: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey
Time/Date: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 9, 2011 on FOX

Moneyline: Giants -450, Seahawks +360
Spread (ATS): Giants -11, +110
Over/Under: 43 ½, -110

A team with the better quarterback always has the better chance to win the game, and this philosophy will prove true when the Seattle Seahawks host the New York Giants on Sunday.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

Eli Manning is having enough success to make up for the fact that he’s the only Manning playing. In the last two games, Manning has led his team to fourth-quarter comebacks. What is scary though, is that the team needed him to head a surge in the final period of play to beat the Arizona Cardinals, but that’s besides the fact.

Throwing the rock for the Seattle Seahawks is the great Tavaris Jackson (sarcasm, yes?). Jackson has been the biggest contributor to the team’s 1-3 record in 2011, instead of being what they signed him for, which was to be a facilitator of the offense, much like Jason Campbell is for the Oakland Raiders.

Seattle’s offense has been hard to watch so far, and they have averaged just over 14 points per game. That can be credited to the offensive line.

The team’s best offensive lineman is Russell Okung, but he has been a bit of a disappointment so far in 2011, and has committed far too many penalties to be considered an elite left tackle.

The Giants, on the other hand, have had an offensive resurgence in the past few weeks. With wide receiver Victor Cruz coming out to surprise everyone in league and dominate Eagles’ all-pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in the teams’ week three matchup.

Cruz provided a much-needed boost to the receiving corps, an Manning was much appreciative of it.

The Seahawks finally saw some of the brilliance they expected when they signed wide receiver Sidney Rice last week. Rice has a history against the Giants, and has scored three times against the team during his career.

The odds makers have the New York Giants as a -11 point favorite with an over/under of 43.5.

Matt’s Prediction: Giants 28, Seahawks 14 – This Giants team is just far to talented for the Seahawks to beat. The Giants are used to beating this team, and it won’t stop on Sunday. Expect the Giants to run away with this one early, and never look back.

NFL Football Preview | Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are of the cusp of being irrelevant in the AFC North, and will get another test this Sunday when they face off against the surprise team of the year in the Tennessee Titans. Both teams will be trying to prove something to the league, and it is expecting to be a heated contest.

Tennessee Titans vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Venue/Stadium: Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Time/Date: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 9, 2011 on CBS

Moneyline: Steelers -170, Titans +150
Spread (ATS): Steelers -3, -120
Over/Under: 39 ½, -110

Tennessee has surprised everyone to start the season, and they seem to have found a fountain of youth, with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck having a bit of a renaissance for the Titans.

The Steelers, on the other hand, have been one of the streakiest teams in the entire league. A lot of their failures can be attributed to the team’s inabilities along the offensive line. It seems every game, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is harassed and punished in the pocket.

The team is wanting to give Roethlisberger more control of the offense, and allowing him to throw the ball a lot more, something that is quite unusual for the franchise, the have to protect him.

The offensive line has been the main cause of the offensive ineptitude for more than just the failure to protect the quarterback.

The running game has also been impacted tremendously by the inabilities of the offensive line. Running back Rashard Mendenhall has yet to have a big break-out game in 2011, and now is nicked up because of it.

Meanwhile, the Titans have done wonders in Tennessee, and they’ve been doing it without their highest-paid player.

Running back Chris Johnson has yet to show up this season, and if they want to take that next step, the team needs him to step it up and be the running back that everyone knows he can be. Johnson has just 199 yards in four games, and has yet to find the end zone on the ground.

Both teams boast a superb defense, especially the Steelers, and this expects to be a hard-hitting game throughout. Unfortunately, the Steelers will be without their star linebacker James Harrison for the first time in a while. Harrison is the player that Pittsburgh needs for their defensive system to work right.

The odds makers have the Pittsburgh Steelers as a -3 point favorite with an over/under of 39.5.

Matt’s Prediction: Titans 14, Steelers 10 – I’m not buying the whole, “Let’s let Ben air it out,” philosophy the Steelers have brought into 2010. Their offensive line can’t protect him on a consistent basis, and they will face a really tough defensive front in Tennessee’s 4-3 defense. I think Hasselbeck will be able to lead his team to more points than Big Ben will muster.

NFL Football Preview | San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos

The San Diego Chargers finally started out of the gate with a roar in 2011, something they’ve been criticized for not doing in recent years. Now, they will face the Denver Broncos in the team’s second division game of the year.

San Diego Chargers v Denver Broncos
Venue/Stadium: Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado
Time/Date: 4:15 PM ET, Sunday, October 9, 2011 on CBS

Moneyline: Chargers -190, Broncos +165
Spread (ATS): Chargers -3 ½, -110
Over/Under: 46, -110

The Denver Broncos, after loosing a close game to the Oakland Raiders in their season opener, haven’t gotten any better. They did beat the Cincinnati Bengals in week two, but then the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers blew out two weeks later.

Click Here for more Free Expert NFL Football Picks

Now, the Broncos will host the San Diego Chargers, who are riding high after winning their last two games since being defeated by the New England Patriots in week two.

The Chargers finally jumped on teams to start the season, something that has really lacked since head coach Norv Turner joined the team.

Phillip Rivers is on pace, as so many others are at this point, to break Dan Marino’s record of passing yards in a season, but has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, something he is not accustomed to in his still-young career.

Running back Ryan Mathews is finally putting up some numbers, although his 288 yards and three touchdowns in four games still doesn’t constitute his first-round draft pick status, but he close to becoming that feature back that they’ve lacked since Ladanian Tomlinson was ran out of town.

The Broncos are still dealing with their quarterback controversy, which should have been resolved a long time ago, and you can tell that it is taking its toll on quarterback Kyle Orton.

Orton has passed for 945 yards and eight touchdowns through four games, but is completing less than 60 percent of his passes, something that has been rare for Orton through his career.

If the Broncos are going to turn the tide of their ship, they will need to do it defensively. Head coach Jon Fox wants to bring tenacity on defense, like he had in Carolina for so many years, and rookie Von Miller is the perfect player for that. Miller is on pace to break the rookie record for sacks.

The odds makers have the San Diego Chargers as a -3.5 point favorite with an over/under of 46.

Matt’s Prediction: Chargers 28, Broncos 17 – The Chargers have so much firepower of offense, that I don’t see the Broncos being able to keep up with them. Take the Chargers to cover the spread at -3 easily. Even though the Bronco’s defense is coming up, they can keep people out of the end zone. They allowed 49 points against the Packers, and these Chargers have the same amount of brute.

As we head into Week 6 of the PAC 12 college football season things are starting to come into focus.

Just about every team has played five games so far and are well into their conference part of their schedule where they are starting to feel the pain or excitement of this year’s bowl season.

There are some great games on tap this week that very well could solidify how the season might finish in the new PAC 12, and it will all start on Thursday night when Oregon host California on ESPN.

With that, here are this week’s Pac-12 previews and predictions. Listed pointspreads are provided by BetOnline.com.

California at #9 Oregon – 9:00 PM ET on ESPN

In last year’s match up, California busted out their unsportsmanlike methods to slow down Oregon, by faking injuries. That kept the game closer than it probably would have been. Despite the Ducks having the week off, they are closing the gap on Stanford. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears also had the week off to prepare for what I expect to be a severe pounding at Autzen Stadium. Unlike Oregon, Cal has not been impressive in the least bit, losing to the only worthy opponent they faced and barely beating Colorado. Thus year’s Golden Bears is a middle of the road team, and after Thursday’s thumping, I think they’re going to know it.

Arizona @ Oregon State – 3:30 PM ET

The Wildcats just finished a brutal stretch of games that if they could have displayed a little better defense, may have come out of it a little better than 1-4. Now they will get a break as the travel to Reser Stadium in Corvallis to take on Oregon State. The Beavers are having a tough go of it this year, and are still looking for their first win after falling to Arizona State last weekend in Tempe. You have to applaud OS for its efforts, as they did get out to 13-0 start against ASU, but then things just fell apart. One thing is certain for the Beavers though, Mike Riley looks like he’s decided to go with freshman QB Sean Mannion played the whole game in Arizona, going 40-66 for 341 yards but with 4 INTs. The point? At least the QB carousal has come to a stop. Too bad it will have to wait until next season to find out where it stopped. Look for the Wildcats to sink their team into the Beavers in this one.

#22 Arizona State @ Utah – 3:30 PM ET

Turnovers were the story in both of these teams outings last weekend, but each had a different ending. While the Sun Devils were able to rally back after falling behind 13-0 to Oregon State, Utah’s five giveaway’s to Washington was more than enough to do them in. The Utes were simply unable to move the ball against the Huskies defense, even after using two different quarterbacks in the game. The reality check that the Devils received from the Beavers should have been enough to jog their memories of falling prey to the usual let letdown of previous years. If that holds true when they travel to Utah, they should have no problem beating a not too impressive or worrisome team.

Colorado @ #7 Stanford – 7:30 PM ET

Decimated by injuries in their secondary, the Buffalos were just 150 seconds from their first PAC 12 conference win, but couldn’t hold on. Now they must face a Stanford Cardinal team that made UCLA look like a Pop Warner football team. However, although their win over the Bruins was expected, Stanford did show that they are beatable, but their strength is that they don’t beat themselves. Nevertheless, in order to beat them, teams are going to have to bring their A-game and posses a QB that can match the talent Andrew Luck. Something I am afraid Colorado doesn’t have. This should be another easy win for the Cardinal.

Washington State @ UCLA – 10:30 PM ET

Washington State made a big statement by beating Colorado in an exciting comeback last week, scoring two TD’s in the final two and a half minutes of the game. Even though it was just the team’s second road win under head coach Paul Wulf, it proved that the Cougars can score and have a dangerous passing attack. They will now get a very good chance to win two in a row when they travel to the Rose Bowl to take on the UCLA Bruins in what I think will be a close hard fought contest. What makes this more interesting is the fact that Wazzou may have the benefit of returning its starting quarterback, which should make the Burins worry just a little bit more. UCLA’s agony is likely to continue as I expect Washington State to surprise the college football world with a big upset on Saturday.
