New York Jets 2008 NFL Record: 9-7 | New York Jets ATS (Against The Spread): 7-9
The 2008 season for the New York Jets could be called the Brett Favre rollercoaster. His strong start to the season propelled the Jets to an 8-3 start. His poor play in the final weeks of the season led to a 1-4 finish as the team missed the playoffs and finished 9-7 on the year. The acquisition of Brett Favre led the team to cut Chad Pennington, leaving the club without a quarterback of the future. That problem was solved with the drafting of Mark Sanchez out of USC, a move that Jets fans are of course comparing to the landing of one Joe Namath decades ago. The team was strong in the running game, led by Thomas Jones and strong in defending the run but was poor in defending the pass, ranking 29 th on the year.
